System Design and Integration Teams

Electrical

The Electrical subteam will work with all other subteams to integrate all electrical components into the vehicle. This includes HV routing distribution points, connector locations, 12V power routing and distribution. The electrical team will also have to create schematics of the existing vehicle’s systems and the custom team added components in a scalable and reusable manner. In addition to this, the electrical team will work the PCM and CAV teams to create wire harnesses for testing benching their components.

Mechanical

The Mechanical sub team will work to integrate the new electric powertrain. This includes designing the engine mounting, power transmission systems and performing in vehicle testing. The team will be doing all the mechanical design as well as analysis of all the integrated to components to ensure they are integrated in the most efficient and safest way. The Mechanical team will also work with CAVS to ensure all their autonomous vehicle sensing equipment can be mounted to the vehicle appropriately.

System Safety

The System Safety team will work all subteams (CAV, PCM, SDI) to assist each team will their individual system safety needs. The team will be mostly working with CAV and PCM to help with requirements development, requirements validation and different safety analyses. The team will be working with the PCM team to do hazard analysis for the different architectures the team will be evaluating for the proposed vehicle architectures. The team will also be doing a Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on one of the controller software features and a System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) to identify potential control actions that may put the vehicle in a hazardous state. In addition, the team will work with the CAV team to embed system safety into the CAV architecture and create system checks for faulty sensors or perception system algorithms.
